The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Smart Adeyemi, has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election to Hon. Sunday Karimi.

Hon. Karimi defeated the three-time Senator and three other aspirants at the party‘s primary held in Kabba on Saturday to emerge the APC flagbearer for Kogi West Senatorial District.

Hon. Karimi,who represented Yagba Federal Constituency between 2011 to 2016 in the House of Representatives
scored 288 votes while Muyiwa Aina came second with 73 votes.

Senator Smart Adeyemi scored 43 votes while the only woman in the race, Doyin Eshanumi scored 1 vote.

Isah Abdulkareem scored 9 votes while they recorded 6 invalid votes.

Elsewhere, Engr. Abubakar Ohere picked the APC ticket for Kogi Central Senatorial District.

He scored 260 votes to defeat Hajia Ramatu Attah with 13 votes and Sheriff Dalhatu with 11 votes.
