Super Eagles suffer major injury blow ahead of World Cup qualifier

Super Eagles interim coach, Austine Eguavoen, could be without the services of one of his defenders, Tyronne Ebuehi when Nigeria clashes with the Black Stars of Ghana in next month’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ebuehi is facing the possibility of a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining an injury at the weekend in his club, Venezia’s 1-1 draw against Genoa.

The 26-year-old replaced Domen Črnigoj at halftime at the Stadio Pierluigi Penzo in Venezia.

However, he only lasted 30 minutes before he was subbed off as well after picking up a knock in his left leg.

The results of the tests conducted on the fullback have revealed that the Nigerian international has a lesion in the semitendinosus muscle of the left leg.

And according to a section of the Italian media, Ebuehi could be out of action for several weeks, possibly until after the international break.

The latest development could see Ebuehi miss Nigeria’s crucial two-legged World Cup qualifiers against Ghana on March 25th and 29th respectively.
