Terrorism: Why govt should allow Nigerians carry weapons – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has backed the call that Nigerians should be allowed to carry guns.

Sani said if the Government and security agents can’t crush terrorists and bandits in Southern Kaduna and the North, then people should be allowed to arm themselves.

He noted that people of the area should be allowed to officially carry same weapons as the terrorists.

In a tweet, the socio-political activist, said such gesture would ensure security within the area

He wrote: “If the Government and security agencies can’t crush these terrorists and bandits kidnapping and killing our people in Northern and Southern Kaduna, people should be officially allowed to carry same weapons and let’s see who owns the land.”

The House of Representatives Majority Leader, Ado Doguwa, had urged the government to allow Nigerians to carry weapons in self-defence.

Doguwa said the call was due to the deteriorating security situation in the country.

The lawmaker, who represents Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State, made the demands during plenary on Thursday.

The House was debating the aftermath of the bombing of the Abuja-Kaduna train by gunmen suspected to be terrorists earlier in the week.
