The Cash Grant for Rural Women by the Federal Government will be flagged off in Abia State on Friday, March 5, 2021, at the Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia. The program which targets to empower rural women with a seed capital grant of 20,000 Naira each is part of the Federal Government Women Empowerment program.

Recall that the President has pledged to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within a specific time frame. These programs along with other Social Investment Programmes are part of the overall strategy to achieve that vision.

The Governor of Abia State Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D., who has prioritized and mainstreamed Social Inclusion and poverty reduction initiatives in his administration will flag off this program alongside the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development Hajia Sadiya Umar.

The event which will be attended by other top federal and state government officials will witness cash payment to over 2,000 rural women in Abia State.

After the flag-off payment to selected beneficiaries will continue until all beneficiaries receive their funds. The women have been advised to invest the money in petty businesses as a way of improving their livelihood and growing the rural economy. This direct cash injection is aimed at massive improvement of livelihood and boosting rural economies.
