Excerpts of the National Youth Council of Nigeria Community Youth’s President and Executive Security summit held in Ikwuano L.G.A, Headquarters Isiala Oboro on 19th August 2021.
The State Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria Engr Smith O. Sylvanus who in the company of Comr. Austine Shell, the V.C Abia Central, Engr. Iroabueke Prince, state Assistant Secretary, and Rev. Ibe Obasi the state spiritual Leader was received by the Executive Chairman Ikwuano LGA ably represented by his SECLOG Bar Sunday Ikpeka
Bar Sunday Ikpeka in his acceptance speeches welcomed the State Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria Abia state and his entourage to the council noting the relevancies of the youths. He has called on the youths of Ikwuano to be diligent in their dealings and try as much as they can to protect government properties in their communities, report any suspicious movement or activities within their domain while he also promised to carry the youths along in government policies and programs.
The State Chairman of NYCN, Engr Smith O. Sylvanus stated categorically that his sole aim of this program is for the community Youths President to form a synergy with the government and security agents in the state to forestall every criminal activity in the communities across the state, that if the communities are secured, that peace will reign in the state. He further stated that Youths are the engine room of any progressive community, he also advised the Youth’s Presidents to acquire a skill, be productive.
He further disclosed that his agenda is to leave a legacy behind by creating an interface between the youths, government, and security agents in the state where a local government chairman can comfortably sit in his office and call a youth leader in any community to get security information and also a Youth President can easily call a DPO or any security agents to pass vital information and peace will be restored.
He also discouraged the act of vandalizing Government properties charging the youth Presidents to know themselves and form a synergy to enable an easy passing of information when there is a crisis in one community.
In separate contributions, The commander of NSCDC Ikwuano, The, DPO, the DSS, and the Coordinator of Homeland security Ikwuano, Comr. Austine Shell, the Zonal Vice Chairman, Abia Central advised the Youth’s leaders to be vigilant, and eschew violence, thuggery, political touting. Also speaking in the event asked the Youth to be watchful, and report any careless or suspicious movement in their respective communities stating that their security outfit is ready to deal with any crime.
They further referred to information management and emphasized the need for all to protect government properties, and the need for urgent reports to security agents to avert any attack, The Coordinator of the Homeland security in Ikwuano also educated the youths on how to use the crime alert app which one can download through Google play store.
In response, Comr. Ikechukwu Abraham, Ogbuebulla Oboro community youth leader appreciated the efforts of the state chairman in changing the narratives of the Youth Council, and also plead for the summit to be continued
The chief staff to the executive chairman Ikwuano L.G.A, Hon Sunny Ochulor, Hon Chidi Uzodinma the supervisor of Youths and Sports were also present during the summit.
The coordinator NYCN, Ikwuano L G.A. comr. Chinewuba Anyaragbu thanked everyone for coming and their support promising to obliged every responsibility accorded of him.
