Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party will on Saturday, February 4, 2023, hold the governorship primary to elect another candidate to replace Prof Eleazar Uche Ikonne, who died on January 25, 2023.

The party is in shock, pain, and quandary as it mourns the passing of its governorship candidate, Prof Eleazar Uche Ikonne .whose death occurred on Wednesday, January 25,,2023 has halted the party’s campaign train.

The heat of succession battle between the three contenders to replace Professor Eleazar Uche Ikonne m emerged on Saturday 4th of February 2023.

Three Contenders in the battle for the fort to Abia PDP governorship candidate are as follows.
1. Chief Sir Okey Ahiwe ( Current Chief of Staff to the Governor)
2. Chief Bob Ogu (Former Commissioner for works)
3 . Eric Opah
All have purchased their form and screened for the primary at the PDP national Secretariat Abuja.
