TIMELY INTERVENTION *IKWUANO EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN AND CHAIRPERSON RESCUES MOTHER OF SIX (6)*

Yesterday, 16th of March 2021, the Executive Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government, Chief Stephen MPAMUGO and the Chairperson of Ikwuano Local Government, Lolo Ijeoma MPAMUGO visited Mrs. Nebechi Azubuike, a mother of six (6) and a native of Awomukwu community, who was mercilessly attacked by two men when she went to harvest her cassava.

According to Mrs. Nebechi Azubuike, she went to the farm on Wednesday around 5pm last week with her two kids. When she got there, she was waylaid and attacked by two men namely, Mr. Chidi Onyirimba and Mr. Lucky Onyirimba. The men beat her repeatedly with heavy sticks and in the process, her waist was broken and her arm got dislocated.

Due to the excruciating pain, she became unconscious and the two men took to their heels, leaving her body at the farm.

Mrs. Nebechi Azubuike remained unconscious at the farm and could not trace her way back home from last week Wednesday when she was attacked until Saturday morning when she was found by a Okwe village vigilante team lying helpless after an alarm was raised about her whereabouts.

She was rushed to Olori General Hospital where she has been on treatment ever since.

Due to a heavy heart of concern, the Executive Chairman, Chief Stephen MPAMUGO and the Chairperson, Lolo Ijeoma MPAMUGO visited the victim this morning in company of the supervisor for women affair, Mrs. Uchechi Ogbonna, Mrs Gloria Anyacho, mass literacy and rural orientation, the chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Ikwuano division, Mrs. Chidinma Ifenkwe former chairperson, Mrs. Phina Onyebinanma, Mrs. Nneka Anyanwu, CSP Ewoh Nicholas DPO Ikwuano and other aides to the Executive Chairman.

After the victim narrated her ordeal, the Chairman, Chief Stephen MPAMUGO paid her pending hospital bills and she was immediately transferred to a specialist to handle the fractured areas and for better treatment.

During an interview with the Chairperson, Lolo Ijeoma MPAMUGO, she reeled out in anger saying the incident is babaric.

According to her, “what happened to this young woman is extremely cruel and inhumane. How can two men beat up a woman to a pulp and leave her to die at the farm? It is totally mischievous and the perpetrators must be brought to book”.

The Executive Chairman, Chief Stephen MPAMUGO when reacting to the gory incident said, “First and foremost, I give glory to God for sparing her life while she was unconscious at the farm for three days. But I am amazed that humans can go to this extent to cause such serious harm to another human being, especially to a woman who is the weaker gender. It is totally unacceptable and I have mandated the security personel to make sure the two men are arrested, interrogated and be made to face the law.

Also the chairman commend the Awomukwu youths and the DPO Ikwuano police divison for their intervention and the arrest of one of the perpetrators of the gory incident who is currently at the police custody.
