Arochukwu Local Government with its high diaspora content, strategic geographical location, rich cultural heritage, and very skilled and mobile manpower will be cardinal to the participatory government that Professor Eleazar Uche Ikonne has promised to set up in 2023 by the grace of God and support of Ndi Abia.

The leading PDP governorship aspirant, Professor Ikonne while canvassing for support from leaders, stakeholders, and delegates of Arochukwu Local Government told his audience that he is coming with a different approach to governance, which will be digital, broad-based, and functional. The erudite Professor who lives in the state and worked for over thirty years in Abia’s critical public sectors are better known for their astute management of both material and human resources; a trait he will bring to the office as the next Executive Governor of Abia State.

Professor Ikonne as Governor will bring his wealth of public sector experience to bear using tested and tried solutions to harness areas of comparative strengths as distinct to each local government area of the state. Community-based governance will be introduced using indigenes for planning, execution, and monitoring of infrastructural projects in their localities. The communities will determine which project is most important to them. Under Professor Ikonne’s participatory government, project execution shall cut across the entire state to unify the state and give every zone, every Abian a sense of belonging.

In conclusion, Professor Ikonne said he will capitalize on the peculiar Diaspora content of the Arochukwu people, harness their high skilled manpower scattered all over the world and galvanize them to work for the progress of Arochukwu just like the Jews, that will always pull together from different parts of the world to assist Israel. Leveraging on the recent Diaspora Commission which was passed into law under Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the government of Professor Ikonne will organize a homecoming for all Arochukwu people from across the globe. The homecoming will avail the government of the much-needed opportunity to cross-fertilize ideas with Aro’s Diaspora population and introduce the blueprint for Professor Ikonne’s participatory government of unity and community-based development governance across the entire state. Tourism will also receive a boost under the government of Professor Ikonne as he will tap into the rich cultural heritage of Arochukwu people, giving it a global touch with the instrumentality of government without distorting its originality.

*In response, all the speakers agreed that there is no better alternative to Professor Eleazar Uche Ikonne, who is mature, experienced, committed, tested, and vast in knowledge of Abian’s public sector, thus; they shall support him till he is sworn in as Governor of Abia State in May, 29th, 2023. The Senator who represented the good people of Abia North, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, the member representing the good people of Arochukwu/Ohafia federal consultancy, Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole and many other dignitaries were present at the event.

THOUGHTS: Professor Ikonne is best suited at this pivotal time to put Abia on the fastest lane of economic advancement, infrastructural and human capital development; taking advantage of the strong foundations laid by Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
