We have noisemakers in Adamawa, not opposition – Fintiri

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State on Wednesday took a swipe at opposition parties, saying they are just noisemakers.

Fintiiri, who is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),became governor in 2019 after defeating Senator Jibrilla Bindow whose All Progressives Congress (APC) has remained a vocal opposition with critical eye on the his administration.

Voices in the APC have frequently questioned projects being executed by Fintiri, particularly a completed flyover in Yola and another, A grade interchange, which has gone far towards being completed.

Fielding questions from newsmen while inspecting progress on the ongoing Grade Interchange around the former Police Roundabout Wednesday evening, with particular reference to pessimism from opposition that he may not complete the project, Fintiri laughed it off.

He said, “We have noisemakers. There is no opposition in the state. I don’t see them. I must tell you that there are only people that make noise.”

According to the governor, those criticising his efforts are only crying over lost opportunities.
“They were given this opportunity, they could not utilise it. They didn’t even look at this state first before anything. We are here less than three years and people could see meaningful projects,” he said.

He told the newsmen, in response to another question, that a third flyover is the state capital is a likelihood within his tenure.

Also speaking to newsmen during the Grade Interchange inspection, the state Commissioner of Works and Energy, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar, said the project is 90 percent completed and it will hopefully be ready for commissioning before the end of next month.
