We Need To Apologize To Nigerians Over Atiku’s Comment On Yoruba, Igbos – Gov Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may need to apologize to Nigerians if the viral video of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar was not doctored.

Report has it that a video currently in circulation had captured Atiku Abubakar saying Northerners do not want Igbo or Yoruba candidates for the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on Monday at the Port Harcourt International Airport, shortly after his arrival from Spain, Wike said if such a statement is true, “it is a threat to the unity of Nigeria at a time when efforts should be concentrated in giving every Nigerian a sense of belonging”.

He said, “If the (statement) was made, as they said, I think, as a party, we need to apologize to Nigerians, assuming the (statement) was made”.

People are denying that it was made but if you watch the video, it appears true but people are saying with recent technology, anything can be done.

This requires further explanation by our party, because Nigerians, as it is today, we can’t go this way if we want this country to remain as the way our founding fathers struggled, laboured, and toiled all the night to see that there is a country called Nigeria.
