Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Prince Chibudom Nwuche of Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality, Rivers State, has said the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, was committed to the development of the state.
Nwuche spoke while playing host to key political stakeholders in the Ekpeye Kingdom, including the Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state, Ben Eke, at his home country in Ochigba, Ahoada-East.
Nwuche tasked politicians in the state to remain consistent in their support for the former governor of the state, Wike, as he serves as a minister in the current administration of President Bola Tinubu, adding that Wike has a lot of good plans for the state.
He said: “His wife, Justice Suzette Wike, is our daughter, and we owe him unalloyed commitment and support. Amongst the landmark projects Wike accomplished in Ekpeye land include the reconstruction and dualisation of the Ahoada/ Omoku road by Julius Berger, and the construction of the Ozochi road with bridges by Setraco.
Others are the construction of the Ogbo/Ihugbogo and Odiemudie roads by Interglobal, and the ongoing reconstruction of the Ahoada Internal roads, the Ekpena road, the Ochigba road, the location of a campus of Rivers State University at Ahoada, Odioku internal roads, reconstruction and expansion of county high school etc, amongst several other projects.”
Nwuche reiterated that Wike believed strongly in the overall development of Rivers State and the empowerment of its people, adding that even projects awarded in the area by the previous administration were completed by him.
However, the Chairman of the council, Ben Eke, commended Nwuche for the warm reception, describing him as a father and one who the Ekpeye people are proud of.
