Zamfara social protection bill passes second reading

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has revealed that the State’s social protection and children protection bills have passed second reading.

According to a statement by the Director General, Press Affairs of the House, Mr. Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, the two bills scaled through second reading during the Assembly’s last plenary.

This followed a motion on the two bills moved by the Majority Leader and the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Faruku Dosara (APC, Maradun 2) and Nasiru Bello-Lawal (APC, Bungudu West), respectively,” the statement said.

He added that, “The bills are for a law to provide for the State social protection and other matters connected therewith 2022, and a bill for a law to provide for the State children protection and for other matters connected therewith.

The State Social Protection bill is a private member bill sponsored by the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Nasiru Bello-Lawal, while the Child Protection bill is an executive bill.”

However, the Speaker of the House, Nasiru Mua’zu Magarya directed the House committee on Women and Children Affairs to scrutinize the two bills and report back to the House in one month.
