Champion Newspapers Awards: Abia Speaker, Chinedum Orji Emerges Most Outstanding Speaker of the Year

Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji MNSE has once again bagged another award as THE MOST OUTSTANDING SPEAKER OF THE YEAR 2021 in recognition of his sterling leadership qualities and service to the people.

The award which is coming from another reputable national media organisation, Champion Newspapers Ltd, will hold on Friday, June 3, 2021, at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In its letter of notification to the Speaker, signed by its Group Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Dr Mrs Nwadiuto Iheakanwa, Champion Newspapers Ltd described the process that saw to the emergence of Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji as The Most Outstanding Speaker of the Year 2021 as a “painstaking selection of our Board of Editors” and their “modest way of recognising leaders in both public and private sectors of the economy who have made greater sacrifice in ensuring that the objectives and ideals of our nationhood which include but not limited to fostering national unity, stronger economy as well as promoting good governance”.

This latest award is one in a series of awards by highly reputable organisations to the Abia Speaker for his numerous achievements and quality legislative interventions.

Emphasising on such achievements and interventions, Champion Newspapers Ltd had said, “On all scores, our findings, largely corroborated by that of our independent assessors, confirm that as Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, you have built an enviable reputation spanning over many years of unblemished record of performance especially in the legislative arm of government where your track record of quality representation, collaboration and synergy with the executive arm have culminated in a harmonious bond among the executive, legislative and judiciary in Abia State”.

Continuing, the Newspaper highlighted some of the legislative interventions which won the Abia Speaker accolades to include: “unification agenda: state legislators cooperation/collaboration with federal legislators of Abia origin across party lines; quality oversight functions on MDAs and ongoing government projects; open and transparent plenary sessions; ensuring and promoting Executive/Legislative interdependence without compromising the independence of the legislature for a more peaceful, progressive and prosperous Abia.

Other recipients of the Champion Newspapers awards are: the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, Prince Ned Nwoko, NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, Rt Hon Ndudi Elumelu among others.

Recall that the Abia Speaker had also won The Sun Public Service Award 2020 in a grand ceremony organised by The Sun Publishing Ltd, publishers of Daily Sun, Saturday Sun, Sunday Sun and Sporting Sun on the 16th of October, 2021 at the Expo Convention Centre of the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
