The immediate past Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, has expressed deep sadness and shock at the news of the sudden demise of his predecessor in office.

Late Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, before his death, was a first-class Chemical Engineer, the former Minister, of the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation; the former Chairman, of All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), the pioneer leader who led the merger and formation of All Progressives Congress (APC), and the first civilian Governor of Abia State.

Dr Onu, who died in the early hours of today after protracted ill health, was a renowned political leader of outstanding reputation and exemplary character worthy of emulation.

The former Governor lived a life of selflessness and dedication with the fear of God in nation-building, he was determined with an unequaled desire to harness sectoral transformation in the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, where he introduced major key reforms that were aimed at moving the Ministry to greater heights.

In a condolence message to the bereaved family, Chief Henry Ikoh sincerely sympathized and prayed for the Onu family, Uburu Community of Ebonyi State, and those that he left behind, to bear this great and irreparable loss with fortitude bearing in mind that the late leader lived a very successful and fulfilled life, as an astute politician and experienced administrator who was well respected in Nigeria and globally.

Chief Ikoh prayed to the good Lord to grant Dr. Onu’s kind and gentle soul eternal rest in God’s bosom. 🙏
