Free Our Son Nnamdi Kanu On Political Grounds, King Larry Urges Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was on Monday reminded of his NADECO days when he and others fought for the actualisation of June 12 presidential election and to equally consider the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu as a political activist and expedite his release from detention as one of the means of instituting national healing and unity

HRM King Ogbonnaya Agwu making the call during an interaction with journalists in Umuahia urged the President to therefore disregard the invectives of the Niger-Delta activist, Asari Dokubo who asked the President to reject calls from the release of the IPOB leader.

King Larry going down history lane reminded President Tinubu that as a political activist and leader of NADECO, he fought for justice and equity

“In this same vein, Nnamdi Kanu is fighting against the political marginalisation of the South-East. I am appealing to President Tinubu to engage him on a round table discussion and order his release from DSS detention. Releasing Kanu from detention will pave way for national healing and reconciliation of aggrieved interests in our Country”, he argued.

He further argued: “From the Federal High Court to the Court of Appeal judgement on October 13, 2022, the Courts have unanimously discharged and acquitted Mazi Nnamdi KANU of all charges brought against him by the Federal Government of Nigeria. It is obvious that Kanu’s continued detention is more political that legal, but I know President Tinubu is a political tactician and can make the politically impossible possible and it is in this light we are appealing to him to expedite the release of Nnamdi Kanu “, King Larry, popularly called the King of the Youths appealed.

The Royal Father further lashed out at Dokubo, reminding that he should focus on issues that concerns him. “Dokubo should focus on things that concern him, I do not see how Nnamdi Kanu and the agitation for Biafra has anything to do with him. Let me remind him that in the not too distant past, he fought against the Nigerian State on the grounds that he was agitating for the Niger-Delta, he should therefore desist from dancing naked in the marketplace, but if he desires to so do, we can help him.

“Let Dokubo censor his utterances, let him remove thoughts about Igbos and Nnamdi Kanu from his mind or mouth, or else we will send a message to God Almighty to deal with him in his own way. A word is enough for the wise”, King Larry warned.

It will be recalled that Dokubo told journalists at the Presidential Villa in Abuja that ““Releasing Nnamdi Kanu is rewarding criminality and rewarding gruesome murder of innocent people, he should face the law for the actions and instigations he has carried out”.

The Federal Government after the Court of Appeal ordered Kanu’s release from detention appealed the judgement at the Supreme Court, but since then the Court is yet to fix a date for hearing of the appeal
